প্রথম আয়াতে রসূলুল্লাহ্-এর আবির্ভাবের পূর্বে দুনিয়াতে কুফর, শিরক, ও মূর্খতার ঘোর অন্ধকারের কথা উল্লেখ করে বলা হয়েছে যে, এহেন সর্বগ্রাসী অন্ধকার দূর করার জন্যে একজন পারদর্শী সংস্কারক প্রেরণ করা ছিল অপরিহার্য। রসূলুল্লাহ্ -এর জন্ম ও আবির্ভাবের পূর্বে আহ্লে-কিতাবরা সবাই তার নবুওয়তের ব্যাপারে ঐকমত্য পোষণ করত। কেননা, তাদের ঐশীগ্রন্থ তৌরাত ও ইঞ্জীলে রসূলুল্লাহ্ -এর নবুওয়ত, তার বিশেষ গুণাবলী ও তার প্রতি কোরআন অবতরন সম্পর্কে সুস্পষ্ট বর্ণনা ছিল। তাই ইহুদী ও খ্রীষ্টানদের মধ্যে এ ব্যাপারে কোন বিরোধ ছিল না যে, শেষ যমানার নবী ও রসূল হযরত মোহাম্মদ মোস্তফা আগমন করবেন, তার প্রতি কোরআন নাযিল হবে এবং তার অনুসরণ সবার জন্যে অপরিহার্য হবে। কোরআনেও তাদের এই ঐকমত্যের কথা উল্লেখ করে বলা হয়েছেঃ

সূরা আল-আদিয়াত (আরবি: سورة العاديات) মহাগ্রন্থ আল-কুরআনের ১০০ তম সূরা, এর আয়াতের সংখ্যা ১১টি, এর রূকুর সংখ্যা ১টি এবং ৩০ পারা। আ'দিয়াত সূরাটি মক্কায় অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে। আল-আদিয়াত এর বাংলা অর্থ হল অভিযানকারী।
সূরা আল ক্বারিআহ বা আল ক্বারিয়াহ (আরবি: سورة القارعة) মহাগ্রন্থ আল-কুরআনের ১০১তম সূরা। এর আয়াত সংখ্যা ১১টি এবং এর রূকুর সংখ্যা ১। এটি একটি মক্কী সূরা অর্থ্যাৎ এটি মক্কায় অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে।
এ সূরার প্রথম শব্দ ক্বারিআহ থেকে এর নামকরণ করা হয়েছে। এ সূরায় শুধু কিয়ামত ও আখেরাতের ওপর আলোকপাত তরা হয়েছে। সূরার শুরুতে মানুষকে একটি "মহা দুর্ঘটনা!" বলে সতর্ক করা হয়েছে: ‘কী সেই মহা দুর্ঘটনা? তুমি কি জানো সেই মহা দুর্ঘটনাটি কী?’ এভাবে শ্রোতাদেরকে একটি ভয়াবহ ঘটনা অনুষ্ঠিত হবার খবর শোনার জন্য প্রস্তুত করার পর দুটি বাক্যে তাদের সামনে কিয়ামতের নক্শা এঁকে দেয়া হয়েছে।

এ সূরায় আমলের ওজন ও তার হালকা এবং ভারী হওয়ার প্রেক্ষিতে জাহান্নাম অথবা জান্নাত লাভের বিষয় আলোচিত হয়েছে। আমলের সম্পর্কে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা সূরা আ'রাফের শুরুতে করা হয়েছে। সেখানে লিখিত হয়েছে যে, বিভিন্ন হাদীস আয়তের মধ্যে সমন্বয় সাধন করে জানা যায়, আমলের ওজন সম্ভবতঃ দুবার হবে। প্রথমতঃ ওজন করে মুমিন ও কাফেরের মধ্যে পার্থক্য নিরূপণ করা হবে। মুমিনের পাল্লা ভারী ও কাফেরর পাল্লা হালকা হবে। এরপর মুমিনদের মধ্যে সৎকর্ম ও অসৎকর্মের পার্থক্য বিধানের জন্যে হবে দ্বিতীয় দফা ওজন করা হবে। এ সূরায় বাহ্যতঃ প্রথম ওজন বোঝানো হয়েছে, যাতে প্রত্যেক মুমিনের পাল্লা ঈমানের অভাবে হালকা হবে, সে যদিও কিছু সৎকর্ম করে থাকে। যার আমল আন্তরিকতাপূর্ণ ও সুন্নতের সাথে সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ, সংখ্যায় কম হলেও তার আমলের ওজন বেশি হবে। পক্ষান্তরে যে ব্যক্তি সংখ্যায় তো নামায, রোযা, সদকা-যাক্বাত, হজ্জ অনেক করে, কিন্তু আন্তরিকতা ও সুন্নতের সাথে সামঞ্জস্য কম, তার আমলের ওজন কম হবে।
